REAL WINNER

In 1988 Summer olympics at seoul , Canadian sailor Lawrence Lemieux competed in the Finn class. Lemieux was on course to win a silver medal when he noticed Joseph Chan and Shaw Her Siew of Singapore who had fallen out of his boat and was injured. Chan was struggling to stay afloat amid the currents. Lemieux abandoned the race and saved his competitor.

COMPANY MATTERS

If a drop of water falls on lake, it loses its identity.
If it falls on a rose, it shines.
If it falls in a shell, it becomes a pearl.

The drop is the same, but the company matters

LEARNING FROM GOOSE

Fact 1: As each goose flaps its wings it creates an " uplift " for the birds that follow. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.

Lesson: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

Fact 2: When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.

Lesson: If we have as much sense as a goose we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.

Fact 3: When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.

Lesson: It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities and unique arrangements of gifts, talents or resources.

Fact 4: The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Lesson: We need to make sure honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek.

Fact 5: When a goose gets sick, wounded, or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.

Lesson: If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong

SHAPING OURSELVES

There was a rich man who was bothered by severe eye pain. He consulted so many physicians but all went in vain. At last a monk who has supposed tobe an expert in treating such patients came forward to treat the rich man.

After examining the rich man, the monk said that for sometime the rich man should concentrate only on green colours and not to fall his eyes on any other colours. The rich man got together a group of painters and purchased barrels of green color and directed that every object his eye was likely to fall to be painted in green colour just as the monk had directed.

When the monk came to visit him after few days, the rich man' s servants ran with buckets of green paints and poured on him since he was in red dress, lest their master not see any other colour and his eye ache would come back.

Hearing this monk laughed said " If only you had purchased a pair of green spectacles, worth just a few rupees, you could have saved these walls and trees and pots and all other articles and also could have saved a large share of his fortune. You cannot paint the world green. "

Let us change our vision and the world will appear accordingly. It is foolish to shape the world, let us shape ourselves first

WHY I SUCCEED ?

I have missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. 26 times I have been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed .
