STATESMAN

REVOLUTIONARY LEADER CHE GUEVARA

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy

FORGIVENESS

On October 2 , 2006 Charles Carl Roberts IV, a 32-year-old local milk-truck driver, stormed into the Amish school in Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania , U.S. and shot dead 4 girl students before killing himself.

What followed was an awe-inspiring response from the Amish Parents whose children were murdered and the Amish comunity has confounded not only America and the world.

The Amish parents (of the children who were massacred) sent words of forgiveness to the family of the killer who had executed their children.
This is what has stunned not only America but the world, especially at a time when hate, revenge, vengeance, violence, and sheer malice against one another in the name of religion reverberate and fill our newspapers.

A refusal to meet violence with violence, but to greet violence with forgiveness.

How can one forgive such a heinous crime? Can this really be true? Yes, in deed, and there is much more to this notable, religious act practised so ingenuously, insistently, and intentionally by the Amish community of Nickel Mines.

The forgiveness which the Amish have practised both at the individual and community level springs from the example of Jesus, the cornerstone of Amish faith... the Amish take the life and teachings of Jesus seriously.

BALANCED VIEW OF LIFE

One man was standing at the top of a flight of stairs, the second at the bottom and the third in the middle.

The first said, "The steps go downward."

The second said, "The steps go upward."

What is the third man’s observation? That , "They run both up and down".

The balanced view of life includes all viewpoints, not merely the one seen from a currently preferred position. Your view depends on where you stand. Everyone is right from his her own point of view

BE ALERT FOR CHANGE

Change descends on every One equally; it is just that some realize it faster. Some changes are sudden but many others are gradual. While sudden changes get attention because they are dramatic, it is the gradual changes that are ignored till it is too late

We must have all heard of story of the frog in boiling water. If the temperature of the water is suddenly increased, the frog realizes it and jumps out of the water. But if the temperature is very slowly increased, one degree at a time, the frog does not realize it till it boils to death.

We must develop your own early warning system, which warns us of changes and calls our attention to it. In the case of change, being forewarned is being forearmed

SCARS OF LOVE

Once a little boy decided to go for a swim in a lake behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His mother in the house was looking out the window saw the two as they got closer and closer together.

In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs.

That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A hunter happened to pass that way shot the alligator.

Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.

The newspaper reporter, who interviewed the boy after the trauma, asked if he would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars on my arms, too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go."

We can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. Not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my friend, are because God has refused to let go. In the midst of your struggle. He's been there holding on to you

Never judge another person's scars, because you don't know how they were made.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY

While walking along a beach,an old man saw a young man in the distance leaning down, picking something up and throwing it into the ocean. As he came closer, he saw thousands of starfishthat tide had thrown onto the beach.Unable to return to the ocean during low tide, the starfish were dying. He observed a young man picking up the starfish one by one and throwing them back into the water.

After watching the seemingly futile effort, the old man said, "There must bethousands of starfish on this beach. It would be impossible for you to get to all of them. There are simply too many. You can't possibly save enough to make a difference."

The young man smiled as he continued to pick upanother starfish and toss it back into the ocean. "It made a differenceto that one," he replied.

Just remember, no matter how small the deed it really does makes a difference

BEGIN WITH YOUR STRENGTH

A rabbit was enrolled in a rabbit school. Like all rabbits, it could hop very well but could not swim. At the end of the year, the rabbit got high marks in hopping but failed in swimming. The parents were concerned. They said, "Forget about hopping. You are anyway good at it. Concentrate on swimming." They sent the rabbit for tuitions in swimming.

And guess what happened?

The rabbit forgot how to hop! As for swimming, have you ever seen a rabbit swim?

While it is important for us to know what we are not good at, we must also cherish what is good in us. That is because it is only our strengths that can give us the energy to correct our weaknesses.

LOOSING ALWAYS ?

An Old Man, a Boy and a Donkey were going to town and it was decided that the boy should ride the donkey. As they went along, they passed some people who thought that it was a shame for the boy to ride and the Old man to walk.

The man and boy decided that maybe the critics were right so they changed positions. Soon they passed some more people who thought that it was a real shame for that man to make such a small boy walk.

The two decided that maybe they both should walk. Soon they passed some more people who thought that it was stupid to walk when they had a donkey to ride.

The man and the boy decided that maybe the critics were right, so they decided that they both should ride. They soon passed other people who thought that it was a shame to put such a load on a poor little animal.

The Old man and the boy decided that maybe the critics were right so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed a bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and it fell into the river and drowned.
